The Golden State Warriors are on a roll, currently sitting at 3-0 to finish off the first week of the regular season. The undefeated start can be attributed to the overall team play of the Warriors, but the engine that makes it all go has been the excellent play of superstar point guard Stephen Curry. Just a couple of days after he was named one of the NBA’s 75 greatest players ever, Curry adds another award to his resume, earning the NBA’s Western Conference Player of the Week.

Curry has been great to start the season. Throughout the first three games, Steph has averaged 31 points, 7 assists, and 9 rebounds. He’s shooting 38.9% from three and 43.5% from the field in 36.3 minutes per game. He is also the only player in the NBA to have both a game with a triple double and a game with at least 40 points this season.

Curry opened the season with a triple double against the Los Angeles Lakers where he showcased his ability to impact the game even when his shot is off by his usual standards. During the game against the Sacramento Kings, Curry reached another Warriors milestone, becoming the first player in franchise history to record 5000 career assists.

However, despite all this, his week was highlighted by a vintage performance against the Los Angeles Clippers. Steph put on a show for the Chase Center crowd, going a perfect 9-for-9 from the field in the first quarter including 5-for-5 from the three-point line.

He finished the game with 45 points, topping it off with a pair of clutch threes down the stretch in order to take the lead and win the game for the Warriors, 115-113.

Curry has won 17 Player of the Week awards in his 13-year career. More importantly, his stellar play has led the Warriors to 3 straight wins and an undefeated record to start the season. With the way Curry and the team is playing, Warriors fans should expect this and many more to come from their superstar point guard.
