French side, Lille captain, Jose Fonte, has declared that he is not scared about facing Lionel Messi.
Lionel, who is currently finalising his move to Paris Saint-Germain, scored of 670 goals for Barcelona during his 19 years as senior player.
Fonte, who has had a spell with Southampton in the Premier League, adding that he was trying to recruit Cristiano Ronaldo to help Lille too.
Speaking with talkSPORT about the huge transfer of Messi to PSG, Fonte insisted he is up for the battle, even if Ronaldo doesn’t join him.
“I feel great because it’s incredible to hear a player like Lionel Messi is in French football in our league,” Fonte told talkSPORT.
“It’s exciting. Obviously in terms of competitors it’s going to be even harder for us but we’re up for a challenge – I’m texting Cristiano to come to Lille every day! He’s only replied ‘ha ha ha’.”
