Iker Casillas could hang up his gloves at Porto, however no decision has been formally taken as to when he will retire.

The Spanish goalkeeper suffered a heart attack at the Primeira Liga’s training ground on Wednesday morning and he was taken to the CUF Porto hospital across the city.

However, according to Spanish paper Marca, Porto believe he will hang up his gloves for the sake of his health.

Porto, the report suggests, are more concerned with ensuring Casillas can live a normal life after his health scare.

As of yet, no decision has been taken on the shot-stopper’s future who has a year left to run on his current deal.

Casillas’ agent, Carlos Cutropia, described the incident as the “greatest victory” of his life and admitted it was lucky it happened at the training ground.

He told Spanish radio station COPE: “He was not aware of what was happening to him, of having a heart attack.

“At no point did he faint or lose consciousness. He felt unwell but he didn’t think he had suffered a heart attack, he was only told after his operation.

“Then he was happy because he was well and what he suffered has not left him with any consequences.

“He has never had any symptoms. It is something that is not usual, especially in an athlete, and this has been a surprise for everyone.

“He had all the luck in the world. If this comes to you at home, the consequences would have been tremendous.”

Casillas, who had been preparing for Porto’s league game against Alves this weekend, isn’t expected to play again this season.
