Al Shabab striker, Odion Ighalo, looks likely to return to the Nigeria national team.
Ighalo announced his retirement in 2019, after he emerged top scorer at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
However, according to the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, he has spoken to him recently about a possible return.
“I had a long conversation with Odion Ighalo, personally I believe we need experience in our attack to combine with our energetic youthful Osimhen, Onuachu, Kelechi et al.
“Odion’s body language is very positive. We are also in touch with his agents and club.
“The vibe going into these last two games and indeed Afcon is very good,” Pinnick wrote on Instagram.

Ighalo set for Super Eagles return .
The question on mind is why is Amaju Pinnick, the Chairman of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) now interested in a return of Odion Jude Ighalo to the senior national team of Nigeria , the Super Eagles.
You will recall that Ighalo retired from national team duties at the completion AFCON 2019 . This was based on the alledged threat to the life of his family members in the course of the mundial.
The job of Pinnick as the NFF chairman is an administrative one and it cut across all footballing levels of the nation and not or should not be Super Eagles focussed . Does the team needs Ighalo ? Was Pinnick sent by Genroh to lure Ighalo back to the team? Who determines who makes the Super Eagles team and who do not ? Does Ighalo ‘s departure has any negative impact on the team ? Peradventure , he makes a return to the team , how many years does he has to offer the team before he call it quit again ? Are the crop of strikers the Eagles parade not good enough to make a mark in the forth coming Nations Cup?
Hope the return of Ighalo to the Super Eagles won’t be like that of Kareem Benzema to the French national team after a long term absent that distrupted the teams’ unity in the just concluded Euro Cup. Ighalo’s return would means retrogression and not progression of the Eagles if it eventually materialises -

You raised valid questions and good points. There’s no dire need of a striker for us to try to lure him to play for the Super Eagles again. He’s definitely not the player he once was… So inviting him at this time is really baffling.
