Former France defender, William Gallas, has urged Chelsea to re-appoint Jose Mourinho as manager this summer.

This is as speculation continues to increase over Mauricio Pochettino’s future at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho has been out of a job since he was sacked by Roma in January.

However, the 61-year-old has been linked with a third stint at Chelsea.

Gallas, who won two Premier League titles at Chelsea under Mourinho, said: “If Mourinho came back, it would be good for the Premier League and it would be exciting.

“I think everyone would be excited by the prospect of seeing Mourinho pitting his wits against Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta – something would happen. There would be fireworks.”

When Gallas was asked if he saw any potential opportunities for Mourinho, he added: “That is a good question. I actually think the best club for him would be to come back to Chelsea.

“That would be the best possible option for Mourinho.”
