Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed concerns over Manchester City’s hectic schedule and Pep Guardiola’s reservations about their Premier League fixtures before their crucial Champions League match against Real Madrid.

While Guardiola has publicly criticised the scheduling, Ancelotti believes City’s fixtures will not affect the outcome of their game against Real Madrid.

Despite acknowledging that City face a more challenging schedule than Real Madrid, Ancelotti does not think it will be a decisive factor in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Real Madrid currently enjoy a week off before playing their next fixture, while City face Aston Villa and Crystal Palace before travelling to the Bernabeu.

Asked about Guardiola’s comments, Ancelotti told reporters during his post-match press conference after Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Athletic Club at the weekend: “I see the calendar well. Obviously, they have a more complicated schedule.

“We have a small advantage in this regard, but it will not determine the outcome of the match.”
