InactivePep Guardiola lost his head towards the end of Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Liverpool, tossing his scarf to the floor in a rage and screaming at fourth official Martin Atkinson.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss cut a wound-up figure on the touchline throughout, kicking every ball with his defending champions as the fought off their main title contenders in the Premier League this season.
Referee Anthony Taylor gave the Manchester City boss a ticking off after a discussion with the fourth official but didn’t see fit to send him to the stands.
Wow. Will from #TheInbetweeners has done well for himself. From Briefcase W#nker to Guardiola's personal emotions manager. “Calm down Pep!” #MCILIV #ManCityvLFC #CalmdownPep pic.twitter.com/jwCukf1zAS — Adam Sloman (@Adam_Sloman) January 3, 2019
Though Guardiola found himself annoyed, it was ultimately a good evening for the Manchester City boss as goals from Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane secured a vital three points for his team to close the gap on Jurgen Klopp’s side to just four points.
Meanwhile, fans watching the game on social media found themselves irked by Sky Sports’ coverage of the incident – claiming they showed Guardiola’s meltdown more than the match!
Does sky fancy showing us the game at some point only so many times I can watch pep throw a scarf — Amy Kay (@amylkay1) January 3, 2019
Terrible by sky camera selection haven’t seen the pitch in two mins too busy showing replays of pep throwing his scarf — Jamie (@Jamie_2905) January 3, 2019
Sky’s camera work is so poor, stop showing us Pep going off on one and show us what’s happening 😠 — Olivia Lundy (@Livii_Lundy) January 3, 2019
Sky more interested in showing Pep behaving like a football manager than the actual game — ○ (@0nContradiction) January 3, 2019
