Manchester United are reportedly expected to confirm the arrival of five members of Ruben Amorim’s backroom staff on Monday.
Amorim started work as Man United head coach at the start of the week, but the 39-year-old is yet to receive his visa, so he has thus far been unable to conduct any training sessions at the club’s Carrington complex.Man United are believed to be confident that the visa will have arrived in time to allow Amorim to oversee training on Monday, and there is also expected to an announcement regarding his staff members.
According to the Manchester Evening News, coaches Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido and Emanuel Ferro will be joining Amorim at Old Trafford, in addition to goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital and sports scientist Paulo Barreira.
The report claims that announcements on the arrivals will be made once all of the visas have been approved.
Fernandes, 29, and Candido, 28, worked with Amorim at Casa Pia, SC Braga and Sporting Lisbon, and the new Man United head coach paid tribute to the former in an interview back in 2022.
“My number two is Carlos Fernandes, he’s been my right-hand man right from day one,” said Amorim. “He’ll be a much better coach than me. I often say if I become Bobby Robson, then he’ll be my Jose Mourinho! But there’s plenty of time, we’ve signed a 15-year deal!”
Man United confirmed earlier this week that Ruud van Nistelrooy, Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel had left the club, but Andreas Georgson, Darren Fletcher and Craig Mawson have been kept on.
