InactiveRomelu Lukaku was unhappy with Mino Raiola over his failure to fully negotiate with Chelsea before his transfer to Manchester United.
United signed the Belgium international from Everton for an initial £75 million fee last year.
But before deciding to make the move to Old Trafford, Lukaku was favourite to complete a return to Chelsea.
Raiola brokered Lukaku’s move to United but the 51-year-old no longer represents the Belgian striker.
And according to Duncan Castles who was speaking on The Transfer Window podcast, Lukaku was unhappy that Raiola had not held extensive talks with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia about a move back to Stamford Bridge.
Instead, Raiola was primarily speaking with Antonio Conte, who was keen on signing Romelu Lukaku ahead of Alvaro Morata, but held little sway with Chelsea’s hierarchy when it came to transfers.
‘Lukaku basically got fed up with Raiola, the way he handled him,’ said Castles.
‘I’m told there was a misunderstanding of his move away from Everton, in that Lukaku thought that Raiola was conducting negotiations with Marina Granovskaia to do that deal.
‘When in fact discussions were principally with Conte, who obviously wanted to bring Lukaku to the club.’
